[WARC] WARC DEV COMMITTEE -- Meeting Focus Topic

As I see it, the Development Committee has a primary function of
building the club. There are two primary areas within which the
ciommittee can function; (1) increasing membership, and (2)
generating funds.
Certainly the generation of funds will be realized if we
increase membership and receive more dues. More importantly, as
we b egin to look towards improving infrastructure, it is likely
that some other outside sources of funding will be needed. Thus,
both focus #1 and focus #2 are important. I don't thinkl the
Development Committee can accomplish this in a vaccuum. Other
elements within the club need to become active. In order to
attract membership, we must have something in the club that is
attractive. For instance, if we were to design and promote a
"guest" night, we would need to be assured that there would be
an interesting and educational activity that would motivate
"guests" to become members.
As an initial move to revitalize the club and get multiple
elements of it working, this committee advocated for the
starting of this list. Since we have decided - initially - to
run this as a single list, I suggest that we develop a system of
identifying interest threads so that people can parse individual
threads into different folders. That we we can have the benefits
of a single list - everyone has a chance to listen to everyone
else - and also realize the benefits of multiple lists.
As a first attempt, let me suggest that we create threads with
committee names:
(1) Repeater
(2) Packet
(3) WepNet
(4) Admin
(5) etc., etc.
Other topical threads might emerge from time-to-time, but
wouldn't it be nice if we could keep committee threads constant
when talking "committee business"?
