Hi Len,
Lance and I summarized the Rochester ARC meeting we went to
Tuesday: Radio City was very enthusiastic about D-Star. Our
discussion here wasn't so enthusiastic. I talked at length to Steve,
W0STV, about links between our operations. I want to keep this
dialog up so that what we do inter operates well with them.

I drew a diagram with my sense of where we are headed:
64 and 835 remaining analog repeaters, but with data (HSMM or
similar) links to each other and the Internet.
444 repeater encouraged to be used for voice and other things, such
as sending pictures, SSTV, etc.
Learn how to effectively deploy dual band mobiles in crossband mode.
2M based APRS weather stations deployed in several places throughout
the county, include rain monitors and if possible water level.

Jim, KB0THN, suggested small enclosed mobile platforms, including
power and equipment mounting, normally placed at strategic locations,
but easily moved if needed. A motion was passed asking Jim to put
together a proposal. Besides APRS and weather stations, we could add
voice repeaters, data links, etc.

Les took minutes, he can add anything I missed.

Erik
