     Hello V/UHF'ers,

This is Todd KC9BQA from EN63 in Wisconsin. And no this isn't
Spam, LOL. I actually went and got each of your emails off of QRZ.com.
So I'd appreciate about 5 or 10 minutes of your time.

With the exception of maybe W0WOI, I have worked every one of you
in a contest or a band opening on 50 or 144. Many of you farther away
folks (Western Minnesota and Eastern Nebraska) worked me during the
great tropo opening in the July CQ WW VHF contest last summer. Man, was
that a hot one! Both temperature and band-condition wise. I've never
had tropo like that on 6 meters.

I love contesting and I love busy contests. I hope you do too.
I'm doing my part to drum up some enthusiasm here. As well as ask each
of you to promote this contest with your radio buddies. Talk it up, get
the word out, make some time to get on and call CQ. Swing the beams
around if you have them.

Starting at 1pm Saturday, and running until 10pm Sunday (central
time) we have the ARRL Sep. VHF QSO party.
     Here are the rules:
http://www.arrl.org/contests/rules/2007/sepvhf.html

The Badger Contesters are putting on a big push to get everyone in
the Upper Midwest on the air. The BC'ers website has recently been
revamped and here's the link: http://www.qsl.net/bc/ You can also
follow along with the BC email reflector at any time by clicking on:
http://mailman.qth.net/pipermail/badgercontesters/ You can go there
right now and see what we've been planning. In fact, we also run a
weekly net every Wed. on 144.250 that starts @9pm central. Our net
control schedule is on the left hand side of the home page. Anyone is
welcome to join in the net. Of course, if you aren't already a BC'er,
we'd love to have you join.

But let's get back to the big contest this weekend.... Another
exciting twist to this year's Sept. contest is two activity periods
where Minnesota and Wisconsin and Illinois are going to look
specifically toward each other. We may as well count Iowa in on this
one, too. At least I hope to hear lots of Iowa stations. The East/West
activity periods are from 8-9pm on Saturday evening and from 11am-Noon
on Sunday morning. During those times, those in IA and MN please make a
special effort to swing the beams from the NE to E to SE. Us folks in
WI and IL will be looking NW to W to SW at the same time. That activity
hour is a big part of why I'm doing this crazy email concept. I want to
make sure everyone knows what's going on. With lots of stations making
the effort, it will turn out great.

Also, W9FZ has announced that he's roving through NW and W
Illinois. Bruce will be at the EN41/51/40/50 grid corner near
Galesburg, IL on Saturday from 1pm until 10pm. About 2 hours at each
grid. On Sunday, he will be moving through EM49/59/48/58. He will have
50 thru 2304 plus 10 gig. And will be CQ'ing on 144.240. I've had the
pleasure of working Bruce on his Wisconsin roves and he does a great
job. Also, N0EDV and AI9Z will be up in EN56, Porcupine Mountain (the
UP of Michigan) with 50 thru 902. They will be using the AI9Z call.
With their shot from the mountain up there, a lot of us may be able to
work them. Swing those beams and call CQ.

If any of you aren't aware of the Northern Lights Radio Society,
you should be. They are at www.nlrs.org. Very active V/UHF contesting
group in Minnesota. Make sure to check out their reflector for updated
plans. Also those in the greater EN44 area will want to be aware of
Chippewa Valley VHF group. Great bunch of guys centered on Eau Claire,
WI. Check them out at www.cvvhf.org If anyone knows of similar links
covering Iowa or Nebraska or the Dakotas, I'd be grateful if you passed
them on to me.

So there's your September contest excitement. :) It's only as
good as you make it. Before I shove off, I want to thank a few people
for their patience. I know some of you (mostly NLRS country) have heard
about this already. So sorry if I've been redundant.

I also want to ask a favor of everyone (besides getting on the air
this weekend, and having fun). I have about 30 callsigns I couldn't get
email addresses for from QRZ.com. If a few of you know how to contact
the following hams, could you let them know too? They are: (first
mostly Wisconsin) K9BCF, WB9LYH, WB9WHQ, ND9Z, K9QM, N9OVR, WD9EGE,
K9QM, KD9NH, WB9CSN, KC9ECI, K9OSH, KA9OMY.
Then some hams from mostly Minnesota: WA9NJR, AB0HF, KA0PQW,
W0JLF, KA0ZYD, K0HGP, KC0WND, NN0K, KB0WDK, KC0P, KB0QCR, WD0AFV, K0JO.
Eddie VE3KRP up in Thunder Bay -- Hello. :) Can you pass this
word along to VE3FAL, N8LIQ and anyone else you can think of? Hope you
have a great contest and who knows, maybe we'll connect.
Finally, some hams down in IA and far W ILL: KC0MZZ, KC0DPX,
KA9FAJ, K0DAS, W9RI, W9UD AND N0RHV.
All of those hams listed above I wanted to email but couldn't find
an address. Perhaps you folks know how to pass the word to them.

      I'm almost done, LOL. :) :)

I know a lot of us won't all work each other. But I also know a
contest is only fun if it's active. Most of you folks I've emailed are
a bit off the beaten path. That's on purpose. The big cities create
their own openings and pileups. We guys out in the sticks have to work
harder, LOL! All of ou have cared enough in the past to get on and work
me. I appreciate that and am trying to return the favor by hyping
things up a little. Why not spread the energy and enthusiasm among your
contesting and weak-signal buddies?

Any questions/comments, feel free to email. Otherwise, hope to
see you on the bands this weekend.
      73,

Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 50 thru 2304 with good height and antennas.
