The August program of the Winona Amateur Radio Club will feature a
review of amateur radio activities to establish a statewide digital
emergency communications network in Minnesota. The program will be
presented by Les K0BAD. Les will include the latest information which
he obtained at last week's ARES session at the Dakota Division ARRL
Convention and Expo in Rochester.

Amateur radio groups in MN have begun a project to utilize new digital
modes to develop a reliable statewide digital network. Les's
presentation can help us better understand the direction of emergency
communications in the region. This information in turn can be a
valuable input into planning local emergency infrastructure.

The August program will be held at the Mississippi River cabin of club
member Dick Kolter, N0VV, and will begin at 7:00 PM, Thursday, August
21. Directions to the location are on the club website, www.W0NE.org
<http://www.w0ne.org>.

All amateur radio operators and other interested persons are welcome at
the program. It is not necessary to be a member of the Winona Amateur
Radio Club to participate.

Len KC0RSX
Vice President & Publicity Coordinator
