Well,....he did it. The Straight Key Century Club (SKCC) started by Tom
KC9ECI in Galesville just topped 5,000 members. Tom and a few ham
acquaintances hatched this idea and started the club right after ARRL
Straight Key Night in 2006. So the group is not even three years old yet!

This is a fun group--very good for CW learners and neophytes like me.
But there are also some excellent experienced CW operators who are
active. A straight key is considered to be any key which forms code by
mechanical means--pump key, sideswiper or bug. If you are interested in
seeing what is going on, check out their website at
http://www.skccgroup.com/ .

SKCC is running a 3rd anniversary special event station(s), K3Y, for the
whole month of January, Sounds like a good way to stay warm in MN in
the middle of winter. I plan to operate as K3Y/0 for the Zero District
off-and-on during the month. If you want to hear a really slow, bad CW
operator, check me out.

Congratulations to Tom KC9ECI and friends for starting this fun activity.

73,
Len
