For anyone using WinAPRS, and wanting to filter incoming traffic when
connected to the Internet servers.

In the c:\program files\winaprs\ folder, open and edit aprsserv.txt
Change one of the servers to port 14580
You can also put whatever you want in the comments, that will show up
in the menu reference below.
Save the file.
Open WinAPRS.
Go to the settings / TCP/IP connections, and connect to the server
you modified above.
Now, go to Lists / New message
Send a message to SERVER
with the body of the message:
filter r/44/-91/200
That will show you all stations within 200km of lat 44 long -91 (Winona).
The server will acknowledge the message and you will start getting
that traffic.

A complete filter command list can be found at
http://wapr-is.net/javAPRSFiler.aspx, there are many choices.

I'll put this on the blog sometime, too.

Erik

BTW, I was successful in connecting to the server from the EOC this
morning with my cell phone modem. With this filtering in place, it
should be useful.
