"When All Else Fails, Amateur Radio Works"
You are cordially invited to visit the Winona Field Day 2008 site
operated by the Winona Amateur Radio Club. As you know, the Amateur
Radio Service can be an important back-up communications resource in the
event of an emergency situation or a disaster.
Field Day is an annual emergency preparedness event sponsored by the
American Radio Relay League, the US national club for amateur radio. It
is billed as the largest single amateur radio event in North America.
By visiting the Winona Field Day site, you have an opportunity to learn
more about the ham radio resource and how--in your role as a community
leader--to take advantage of that resource when the need arises.
This year the Winona Amateur Radio Club will feature a demonstration of
Amateur TV (ATV), long and short distance radio communications, a
"Get-On-The-Air" station for non-hams to try amateur radio, and a number
of emergency communications techniques.
Winona Field Day 2008 will be at the Winona Sportsmen's Club, 22933 Gun
Club Road. See a map showing directions to the site at
http://www.arrl.org/contests/announcements/fd/locator.php . The station
will be in operation from 1:00 PM Saturday, June 28, to 1:00 PM Sunday,
June 29. The ATV demonstration and Get-On-The-Air stations will be
active on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM until at least 2:00 PM.
You are invited, so we hope to see you there. You will be very welcomed!
