[WARC] 2 meter beacons you can hear

   I should mention to anyone who's wondering how their 
2 meter SSB equipment is hearing that there are beacons 
on the band.  They operate 24 hours a day.  

   One is in the La Crosse area, on 144.290.  Another is 
down near Blue Mounds State Park, SW of Madison.  Freq. 
is about 144.297. 

    From my location, the 144.297 one is always much stronger.  
I think it may run as much as 10 watts.  It's often S3, S5 or 
more here, over about a 100 mile path.  

   Of course, you folks will hear the La Crosse beacon on 
144.290 plenty strong.  :)
