Friendly reminder -- CQ WorldWide VHF Contest starts at 1pm,
runs until 4pm tomorrow. 6 and 2 meters only. Bread-and-butter
VHF bands that most every ham has. Enjoy active ham bands?
Of course you do. Well in a V/UHF contest, you will hear plenty of
activity. It's the best time to have fun.

Yes, the majority of contest ops take place with SSB mode and
horizontal pol. antennas. You get superior range that way, and it's
where you want to end up if you get serious.
BUT... anyone with 2 or 6m can try a VHF contest, no problem.
My website post dated July 12th addresses that.
Talking http://www.kc9bqa.com Everybody has to start somewhere
and this weekend is an excellent time for that.
For this contest, I want you to come out and support the FM activity
period of 9-11pm tonight and 7-9am tomorrow. Chose those times for
several good reasons, those are detailed on http://www.kc9bqa.com
in a post dated July 11th.
FM freqs. to use are 146.550-146.580 primary on 2m. Spread out
to 146.400-146.490 if it gets busy. Turn squelch down, use
headphones if you really want to capture the weak ones. On 6m,
use 52.525 or nearby if it's busy.
Of course, help support KC9ECI Tom who has climbed up to
the top of Decorah Peak in EN44. Anyone who goes to that length
deserves hundreds of Q's! Good job Tom, good luck.
Hope to see some new folks get on board here.
Thanks for your time, 73,
