Hello all,
Next weekend, July 31-Aug 2, is Weekend on Wheels in Winona. As you
recall, the Winona amateur radio community was requested to provide SAG
support for the event--following behind the bikers on the various routes
and calling for assistance needed--mechanics, broken bike
transportation, medical assistance and other items. The WARC agreed to
provide some help and coordination, but involvement in this project is
not limited to club members.
Amateurs are being asked to provide SAG communications support for two
routes on Friday and Sunday and three routes on Saturday. We will also
need a base station at the WOW start/finish area to communicate needs to
the event staff. WOW staff will provide additional SAG support for one
additional route each day.
Based on current route plans and time estimates, local hams are needed
for base station and route SAG support as follows (subject to change):
Friday: 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM (latest).
Saturday: 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Sunday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
I think ham radio operator volunteers are expected to provide our own
vehicles and gasoline.
You do not need to be a WARC club member to assist with this project.
PLEASE let me know if you can assist and which day. The times above are
the latest end times--some routes are shorter and ending times are earlier.
Thanks & 73,
Len KC0RSX
