*Weekend on Wheels 2009 - Amateur Radio Guidelines*
_Purpose_: To provide communications for SAG support including calling =
out SAG vehicles to areas needed.
_General operation_: This will involve operation of 2-meter mobile =
stations in ham's own vehicles along the various routes each day and =
operation of a base station at WSU for overall coordination and =
control. Hams will "patrol" the routes and call for SAG vehicles and =
emergency services via the base station. Services provided by WOW =
include provision and operation of the SAG vehicles and provision of =
bicycle mechanics for repairs beyond the capability of individual bikers.
Route maps for each day will be provided by WOW (see below). The routes =
each day contain some common portions and common rest stops. The plan =
is to dispatch a ham with vehicle to travel with the first group of =
riders each day, reporting general location and arrival at the rest =
stops. Another ham will be dispatched later to provide coverage at the =
end of the route. The first ham will take the longest route and provide =
coverage at the end of the group traveling it. Subsequent ham(s) will =
travel the intermediate route(s) where different from the longest route =
and cover the end of the group. WOW will provide their own SAG support =
for the shortest route each day (not shown below). At least three WOW =
bikers who are hams are also expected to assist with SAG communications =
as they ride their routes.
Hams traveling routes should _stop at the first rest stop and pick up =
snacks_ to take for tired & undernourished bikers if any are encountered.
_Reporting times each day are as follows_. Report to the base station, =
which will be located in the Kryzsko Commons parking lot off Huff =
street. All ending times are approximate.
