WB9LYH is EN54cl, middle of WI and very loud. Under flat bands, he's regularly working into St. Louis, Kansas City, Cleveland, Detroit and Indianapolis. WB9LYH is on 144.240 starting at 8:15pm eastern and he looks south thru WI into ILL. He then swings clockwise, going SW, W, NW, N, NE, E, SE. When he looks a certain direction will depend on how busy he is. I update where WB9LYH is looking plus who he's hearing on the 144-432 MHz chat at www.on4kst.com. You can register for free there and follow along. It helps you see what's going on around you and helps you make more Q's. Hope to hear many of you tonight. Always be aware of QSY'ing down from the net freq. and creating your own activity. With 44 check-ins last week, we're making the band much better all around the Midwest/Great Lakes. Continue to look outward, and find others. I host the 144.250 Badger Contesters net at 9:30pm, and also start out looking south, then swinging clockwise a full 360. 73, Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee http://www.kc9bqa.com For Frequent VHF/UHF Updates From grupaj at acegroup.cc Thu Nov 5 10:49:22 2009 From: grupaj at acegroup.cc (Jim Grupa) Date: Thu Nov 5 10:49:39 2009 Subject: [WARC] 2009 SKYWARN Recognition Day - December 5, 2009 Message-ID: >From La Crosse office of the National Weather Service Through the cooperation of local amateur radio operators, our office hopes = to participate in the annual SKYWARN Recognition Day on Saturday, December = 5th. What fun will we have starting at 0100 Wed. night?? WB9LYH is on 144.240 again Wed. night, trying to stir up activity in a wide area of the Midwest/Great Lakes. He starts out looking E into MI at 0100, and then swings clockwise a full 360, calling CQ frequently. He's on until 0230, ending as he looks north into U.P. of MI and Ontario. He has stacked 17B2's and 500 watts from a fantastic QTH in central WI. I'm up on 144.250 at 0130, from EN63ao. I start out looking south and saying hello to Milwaukee/ILL check-ins. I then go clockwise a full 360, looking for anyone/anywhere. Consider using the real-time 144/432 MHz chat at www.on4kst.com. It gives a greater understanding of just where we're pointing and who we're hearing. You can also use the chat to coordinate your own activity. WB9LYH and I encourage net check-ins to look around on their own, and create activity in areas we may not be able to reach. Far better to have dozens of guys creating their own activity, rather than simply waiting to work one guy who's net control. Remember that I always update my website with every net announcement and also with net reports. A lot of guys may enjoy knowing who all checked into each net. There are way more VHF'ers out there than I ever realized. Visit my website a few times a week for a few minutes and you're all caught up with what's going on. 73, Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee http://www.kc9bqa.com For Frequent V/UHF Updates From sprinkies at excel.net Wed Nov 18 13:42:13 2009 From: sprinkies at excel.net (Todd Sprinkmann) Date: Wed Nov 18 13:42:41 2009 Subject: [WARC] Time correction Message-ID: <816788E76EFB4CD6ABEC2C42DC82E7D7@sprinkma35adeb> I start my 144.250 net every Wed. at 0230, not 0130. So it's time for you fine VHF'ers to freelance it. On a typical net night, we hear from a combined 30-40 guys. It would be a shame to see all that potential wasted just because Mark and I aren't around. In fact, if 30-40 guys from multiple states got on and called CQ any ol' night, we wouldn't need to call nets. There would be enough activity. If you want to play radio, then get on and call CQ. There should be plenty of guys out there, from 0100 on. There may be a few up near 144.240, or they may migrate down around 144.200. Be a good guy and let anyone on 144.240 at 0100 or 144.250 at 0230 know that the net is off. I know some don't read email or check the website. I expect everything will be back to normal next week.
