[WARC] EComm is Changing

The problem with on your own time is labor law does not allow you to
volunteer time for your employer. (US Department of Labor). If a
person tyred to volunteer for their employer and US Department of
Labor found out there would be large fines for the employer. If
payroll or HR found out at most places they would end up paying you
for it and then implement disciplinary action so as not to be fined by
the US Department of Labor.  Not to mention the implications with
their work comp insurance carrier.
