Message-ID: <61C39A4B493C4F88BEE5E0DCA94DC0B6@sprinkma35adeb> Here's the deal: In an effort to promote more activity by newer VHF/UHF contesters, I sponsor a traveling plaque for the highest scorer in the Jan. ARRL VHF Sweepstakes. The territory covered is all of SW, W/Cent. WI and SE MN. I also want the plaque to reward newer contesters, so ops with long yagis, or more than 3-4 bands aren't eligible. The only lists I directly email are the LaCrosse hams and the Winona (WARC) groups, so if you know of operators who need to be included, please forward this to them. Last year's plaque winner was the KC9JTL team of Christopher and David (W9HQ) out near Westby. I have no idea who will win the plaque this year. Why? Because I've received *one* score so far. One score ain't much of a competition... ;) I'd like to get this plaque awarded. But if nobody's motivated, I won't lose sleep, either. I know many of you got on and made it another exciting contest in your area, so congrats are in order, just like in 2009. If you played in the V/UHF contest a few weekends back, and you want to be considered for the plaque, please shoot me an email with your claimed score. If I don't get any emails with claimed scores in the next week or two, I will announce the winner. Either way, I hope those of you who are enjoying V/UHF will continue to do so. :) 73, Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee http://www.kc9bqa.com For Frequent VHF/UHF Updates From sprinkies at excel.net Wed Feb 10 03:51:15 2010 From: sprinkies at excel.net (Todd Sprinkmann) Date: Wed Feb 10 03:51:23 2010 Subject: [WARC] 144 net info for Wed. night Message-ID: Big snow here today -- 10-11" and it's winding down now. We also will be reviewing fourteen proposed projects and events for 2010--and these are in addition to the regular monthly club programs, the club picnic, and the holiday party! A nice social time after the meeting is also planned. The club has an exciting year ahead. Your vote on the officer elections and your input on the other items are vital, so please plan to attend. 73, Len KC0RSX From sprinkies at excel.net Wed Feb 17 14:52:00 2010 From: sprinkies at excel.net (Todd Sprinkmann) Date: Wed Feb 17 14:52:29 2010 Subject: [WARC] 144 SSB nets *ON* tonight Message-ID: <1CABE2FEC2F94502BC7444F5A49ADF4C@sprinkma35adeb> Tonight's net plans are announced, as always, on my website. I think of the website as a VHF/UHF newspaper, and visiting a few minutes per week should keep you informed. Remember that even if nets don't interest you, our long-term goal is to increase activity on 144 SSB in general. We encourage our check-ins to slide down to 144.230 or lower, and stir up their own activity in various directions. If enough of you will do this, Wednesdays will become a "can't-miss" night to be on 144 across a wide area of the Midwest/Lakes. 73, Todd KC9BQA EN63ao 40 N of Milwaukee http://www.kc9bqa.com For Frequent VHF/UHF Updates From Litvan at acegroup.cc Fri Feb 19 05:23:14 2010 From: Litvan at acegroup.cc (Len Litvan) Date: Fri Feb 19 05:23:18 2010 Subject: [WARC] Source for a GOOD Ham Radio Battery Supply Message-ID: <4B7E2042.4080408@acegroup.cc> I'm not so sure about the accuracy of the battery specification in the article below--28 kilowatt-hr--but it would be great to get one and try it out! :-) 73, Len http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,586558,00.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+foxnews%2Flatest+%28Text+-+Latest+Headlines%29 From Litvan at acegroup.cc Fri Feb 19 05:49:02 2010 From: Litvan at acegroup.cc (Len Litvan) Date: Fri Feb 19 05:49:04 2010 Subject: [WARC] WARC Meeting Update Message-ID: <4B7E264E.40002@acegroup.cc> Good club meeting tonight.
