This past year was a banner year for new Amateur Radio licensees in the
United States. According to the ARRL, the FCC issued more than 30,000
new ham radio licenses as a result of 6,369 VE testing sessions
conducted during the year.

New licensees brought the number of licensed hams to 682,500 at the end
of 2009, an increase of 4.1% in the past two years. With propagation
beginning to improve, now would be a great time for interested people to
get their licenses.

The Winona Amateur Radio Club is sponsoring a license course beginning
later this month. Information is on the club website at www.w0ne.org
<http://www.w0ne.org/>. The club is also sponsoring a license testing
session in early March. Persons successfully passing the license exam
in March may expect to have their amateur radio license before Easter.

If you know of anyone interested in obtaining their amateur radio
license, please ask them to consider the WARC license course. The
licensing success rate for participants has been excellent.

Sincerely & 73,
Len KC0RSX
